Learn to Read Price Charts, in the Order That Works

Almost nobody fails at this because the material is hard. They fail because they meet it in the wrong order: an indicator in week one, a pattern list in week two, and the thing that actually decides the outcome, their own behaviour, never.

Short answer

Learn chart reading in this order: one candlestick, then support and resistance, then volatility and trend, then liquidity and imbalance, then risk and your own psychology. Indicators come last because they summarise what price already showed you. Chart Bound teaches this order free across 71 levels.

The order, and why it is that order

  1. One candle. Open, high, low, close, and what the body and the wick each tell you. Everything else is built from this and it takes an afternoon.
  2. Levels. Where price has reacted before, and the difference between a level breaking and a level being taken deliberately.
  3. Volatility and trend. How far this market normally travels in a day, and whether it is currently trending or reverting. This decides whether a setup is even viable, which is why it comes before setups.
  4. Liquidity and imbalance. Stop hunts, sweeps, fair value gaps, and why price so often goes to the obvious place before going somewhere else.
  5. Risk and psychology. Position sizing from a stop, drawdown, and the five or six behaviours that account for most blown accounts. This is last in the list and first in importance, which is the uncomfortable part.

Indicators are deliberately absent from that list. Not because they are useless, but because every one of them is a summary of price and a summary is worth less than the thing it summarises. Learn to read the chart and an indicator becomes a convenience. Learn the indicator first and the chart stays unreadable.

How long it takes

Reading a candle: an afternoon. Marking levels well enough to be useful: a few weeks of repetition. Liquidity: longer, because it needs you to have already been caught by it. The psychology never finishes, which is why it is a whole region of the game rather than a chapter.

Anybody who gives you a number for this is selling you something. What is measurable is repetitions, which is the one input entirely under your control.

A free path through it

Chart Bound follows the order above because the order is the lesson. Nine regions, 71 levels, one chart read each, free in the browser with no signup. The charts are historical, nothing is a trade recommendation, and nothing here is financial advice.
