Chart Pattern Quiz: Name the Shape, Then Learn When It Fails

Six charts, drawn without labels, and you name the shape. Every answer includes the part cheat sheets leave out: the situation where that pattern usually fails.

Short answer

Six unlabelled chart diagrams to identify: head and shoulders, double top, ascending triangle, bull flag, range and liquidity sweep. Every answer names the situation where that pattern usually fails, because recognising a shape is not an edge - the same pattern works at a level and fails in the middle of a range.

Why the diagrams have no labels

A labelled diagram tests reading, not recognition. These are drawn from the same code as the diagrams on our chart patterns guide, with the captions removed, so the only clue is the shape itself.

The honest caveat

Recognising a pattern is not an edge. The same shape appears constantly in ranges and fails routinely in strong trends, which is why each answer here names the failure case. Patterns are a way of describing structure, and the trade still needs a level, a stop and a size.

Frequently asked questions

What patterns does the quiz include?

Head and shoulders, double top, ascending triangle, bull flag, range and liquidity sweep - drawn without labels.

Are chart patterns reliable?

They describe structure rather than predict it. The same shape works in one context and fails in another, which is why every answer here gives the failure case.

Is it free?
